Triple Crown for Mannheim
With the accreditation by the British Association of MBAs (AMBA), Mannheim Business School is the first German institution with the three most important international seals of quality. Only 33 business schools worldwide hold the so-called “Triple Crown.”
“The ‘Triple Crown` is a high award and a further confirmation that we offer management education at an internationally top level,” explained Professor Christian Homburg, President of the Mannheim Business School. According to Homburg, the Triple Crown is the result of perfect cooperation from students and alumni as well as faculty members and the network of partner universities, companies and sponsors. The AMBA accreditation would not have been possible without the tremendous financial support through the Heinrich-Vetter endowment. Since its beginnings in 1997, the endowment has been facilitating academic, social and ecclesiastic establishments and projects in Mannheim. “We were convinced by this project right from the start,” stressed the foundation chairman Professor Carl-Heinrich Esser. Ultimately the Mannheim Business School is said to have become an international flagship for the city within a short time.Already in 2000, by its own account Mannheim was the first German school and fourth European business school to be accredited by the US-based AACSB International. The EQUISs accreditation by the European Foundation for Management Development (efmd) followed in 2004. While AACSB and EQUIS accredit the overall institution, AMBA focuses on the MBA programs. The one-year full-time MBA program as well as the part-time Essec & Mannheim MBA therewith received the seal of approval.
The “Triple Crown” is not just a top-class award for the Mannheim Business School, but rather an important instrument of quality assurance, emphasized Professor Hans H. Bauer, Dean of the Mannheim Faculty for Business Administration. “Because the accreditation only applies to a specific period of time, it obligates us to steadily improve our programs, organizational structures and processes.”
Not even one percent of the approximately 3,900 business schools worldwide have successfully completed the strict tests set by the three most important accreditation organizations.
