The Economist on Distance-Learning MBAs

Last week, The Economist online produced a special report on the increasingly popular phenonemon that is distant-learning business education.

While noting that distance learning is not for everyone–it’s difficult to juggle work, study and family commitments–the analysis contends that school selection requires more than considering reputation. Does the school keep students engaged? Is the technology effective? Does it offer value for money?

In this special investigation, The Economist looks at the following issues:

  • Should an MBA be open to anyone?
  • How a distance-learning MBA works
  • Reader debate: Should distance-learning MBAs be considered inferior?

You can download a full report, which includes a rating of selected programs which apply stricter entrance criteria and are offered by more traditional universities.
