This was the result of a survey conducted by TheMBATour of Germans interested in an MBA as well as German MBA students. A differentiation was also made between students aspiring to an MBA abroad or in Germany.

29 percent of those hoping to complete an MBA abroad are considering a fundamental career change with a job in another function and field. The figure is 28 percent for those interested in an MBA degree in Germany.

Only 43 percent of those interested in an MBA abroad and 53 percent of those planning on an MBA program in Germany want to continue on their current career path. The desire to change is thus similarly high to the US (43 percent). In Asia, the portion of those who want to stay true to their current career path is at 57 percent. In Latin America it is 78 percent.

Time pressure

Those interested in an MBA were also asked about their fears. Germans find the time pressure through the program and financing the most worrisome. Interestingly, the topic of money is more troubling for those who want to do an MBA in Germany (31 percent) than for those who want to go abroad (27 percent).

Finding a job after graduation came in third place for both groups. In addition, those who stay in Germany, frequently have more doubt about their academic success. (9 percent versus 5 percent).

TheMBA Tour is organizing MBA fairs worldwide and will come to Germany in January and February.
