Insead strengthens Asia strategy

Asia is developing into a strong market for business schools and Insead has been active on the continent for several years, teaching from its own campus in Singapore and forging ties with universities in China. In 2007 Insead started the so called TIEMBA programme (Tsinghua Insead Executive MBA) that enables students to finish a dual-degree Executive MBA with Insead and the Chinese Tsinghua University.

In September 2011 the business school strengthened its presence in Asia even further by introducing new offers and the TIEMBA alumni association in the region. In the coming months, Insead will launch several new executive programmes on the school’s Asia campus in Singapore. It has already enhanced intakes for its Global EMBA and Advanced Management Programme. One of the new programmes will be an Executive Masters in Clinical Approaches to Management.

The TIEMBA Masters level degree programme is currently taught in three locations: six weeks are spent on Tsinghua’s Chinese campus in Beijing, two weeks at Insead’s French campus in Fontainebleau and another three weeks at Insead’s Singaporean campus. Students learn both Eastern and Western approaches to prepare for global senior management roles. “The TIEMBA is a conscious effort by Insead and Tsinghua to forge an international programme for Asia’s business community,” said Insead Deputy Dean Peter Zemsky.

Other European business schools also have strong ties to Asia, with the London School of Business and Finance, Essec Business School and the Grenoble Graduate School of Business all operating a campus in Singapore for example.
