New Competition for “Big Four” regions in the MBA market

Every year the QS World MBA Tour travels to 40 countries connecting leading B-Schools with students. Every year business schools from the US, the UK, Canada and Australia dominate the fair but this year there is a new generation of business schools evolving. For the first time the ‘Big Four’ seem to have got competition from business schools in China, Hong Kong, Italy, Israel, Russia and Greece, reports The Hindu Businessline after visiting the fair in New Delhi.

Indian students are often wooed to business schools overseas and the Indian market is an important one for MBA schools. This year Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB) sent a representative to New Delhi claiming its programme was "faster, good, and not a burden on the pocket." At a cost of just 12,000 Euro, it may be even cheaper than some of India's own MBA programmes. Israel on the other hand promoted its nation's environment of innovation and Russia its focus on emerging markets for example.

It will be interesting to keep an eye out for those new and fresh competitors that might bring new ideas as well as better prices into the MBA market. However, it will yet to be seen if the quality of those new programmes and providers can match the standard of renowned schools from the US, the UK, Canada and Australia.
