The Financial Times has published its new ranking on Executive Education. In the open enrolment programs Darden School of Business at the University of Virginia is at first place, followed by the Iese Business School in Spain and IMD in Switzerland.

Forbes China magazine ranked the full time MBA Program at the China Europe International Business School (CEIBS) as number 1 in its ranking of the “Most Valuable MBA Programs” in China for 2010.

The Financial Times already has more than enough ranking lists. Now the newspaper has created yet another odd one. The ranking lists the “top providers” of online MBAs and sorts them according to the number of students in the program. Accredited and non-accredited degrees are tossed in with each other and, strangely enough, the largest school is missing from the list.

The British business magazine Economist has rated 13 distance MBA programs on the basis of various criteria. The International Executive MBA from the Spain-based IE Business School faired the best, followed by the Internet MBA from the University of Florida and the Euro*MBA, which is offered together by several European schools. British universities received shockingly poor ratings.

The newest Financial Times ranking doesn’t change much amongst the top positions. On the losing end is CEIBS in Shanghai.

Kellog School of Management successfully defended its first place in BusinessWeek’s biennal Executive MBA Ranking followed by University of Chicago’s Booth School of Business. Third comes Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

The top slots in the worldwide Financial Times (FT) ranking of Executive MBA (EMBA) programs have once again gone to programs involving the cooperation of several business schools.

British business magazine The Economist has named the Iese in Barcelona the best business school in the world. IMD, last year’s winner, came in second place, followed by the Haas School of Business and the Booth School of Business in Chicago. The Mannheim Business School managed a formidable jump up in the ranking.

Most MBA programs in the US still last two years. In contrast, shorter programs dominate in Europe. But the Americans are increasingly discovering the advantage of the condensed education. Now the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) has published its first ranking of the “accelerated MBA programs.”

With the London Business School (LBS), a European school is at the top of the worldwide rankings from the Financial Times (FT) for the first time – even though it has to share first place with the Wharton School from Philadelphia. Other European and Asian schools were also able to improve.

The European Business School (EBS) is proud of its placement in a worldwide ranking from Eduniversal. EBS Director Axel Schumacher isn’t just on the scientific committee there – he even considers the ranking a “great start”. But this is more than questionable.

There are no big changes in the top ten in the ranking of the best American full-time programs that is published every two years by Business Week. Chicago is ahead of Harvard and Kellogg. In the separately rated international schools, the Spanish school Instituto de Empresa landed in second place ahead of Insead.

Just at the time Business Week has releases its newest MBA rankings, management professor Frederick P. Morgeson has published a study intended to prove how flawed magazine’s ranking is.

A new ranking of Indian business schools was the top story on the evening news on CNBC-TV18, India’s leading business news channel. The winners are the Indian Institutes of Management in Ahmedabad, Bangalore and Lucknow. The Indian School of Business in Hyderabad did not make the top ten.

The Indian School of Business (ISB) in Hyderabad was represented in the Financial Times (FT) ranking for the first time in January and landed in 20th place worldwide. But the school did not fulfill the requirements for participation in the ranking. Now the school is surprising critics with a simple explanation.

The non-profit organization Net Impact offers an overview of the green and socially-responsible MBA programs with its “Business as unusual” study.
