For years, the Indian government hasn’t taken any action against the controversial Indian Institute of Planning and Management (IIPM). Now the University Grants Commission (UGC), which as a higher Federal authority in India is responsible for the administration and recognition of universities, has issued a public notice that the business school is not authorized to confer degrees like the MBA and that these degrees are not recognized by the government.

The ESMT European School of Technology and Technology in Berlin becomes academic member of the Kofi Annan Business School Foundation and awards a Full-tuition Fellowship for high-potential young professional from a developing country. Beside his name the foundation hasn´t to do anything with the former Secretary-General of the United Nations. The founders are two schools and a consultancy.

The controversial Indian Institute of Planning and Management (IIPM) is no longer a member of the Central and East European Management Development Association (CEEMAN).
Almost simultaneously, the “European division of the IIPM,” the International Management Institute (IMI) in Brussels, lost its membership with the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD) in Brussels.

Qatar Foundation and HEC Paris finalized a partnership agreement for HEC Paris to offer executive education programs and carry-out research activities in Qatar, making the French business school the first member of the Qatar Foundation Management, Education and Research Center (QF-MERC).

The Executive MBA Program (IMM) of the GISMA Business School in Hannover (Germany) in cooperation with the Krannert School of Management (USA), the Central European University (Hungary) and TiasNimbas Business School (Netherlands) will be offering one more location in future. Traditionally the China Europe International Business School (CEIBS) in Shanghai, HKUST Business School in Hong Kong, Indian School of Business (ISB), and Nanyang Business School in Singapore have competed for applicants from Europe. Now the four renowned business schools are joining forces for the first time to target top European students.

Grenoble Ecole de Management has announced to set up a new laboratory using 50 iPads in their MBA classes. In September 2010, 40 students will be selected to become beta testers. Amongst other innovations, the pedagogical advantages of the iPad are the major focus of the ‘Laboratory of Experimental and Innovative Pedagogy’
