Augsburg University / Centre for Professional Development and Knowledge Transfer
The University of Augsburg was founded in 1970 and is one of the new, modern universities in Bavaria with approximately 15.000 students. According to the motto of the university "Scientia et Conscientia" the curricula are designed to meet the high standards of academic excellence on the one hand, combined with the practical needs of society and the economy on the other. The Centre for Professional Development and Knowledge Transfer (ZWW) has an excellent reputation throughout Germany. Established in 1974, the ZWW offers more than 30 years of experience in Continuing Education and academic knowledge transfer. It is well known for its integrative approach to combine academic excellence, innovative thinking, cultural involvement and exchange as well as social responsibility. In cooperation with the Faculty of Business Administration and Economics (FBAE) the ZWW offers excellent part-time courses for professionals, such as the "MBA Corporate Management" or qualifications as "Certified Rating Analyst (univ.)" or "Certified IFRS Accountant (univ.)". Over the last three decades the institution has become a national leader in its field. In 2004 the "Stifterverband für die Deutsche Wissenschaft", the leading association that provides funding for German education and research, named the ZWW in Augsburg as the best institute attached to a university in the German market of Continuing Education. In order to enhance and upgrade the learning environment for MBA-students, the ZWW has built the "SGL Carbonum", a new Management Centre on the Campus of the University of Augsburg, which became available for use in October 2009. The Management Centre is named by the main sponsor SGL Carbon AG.
