China Europe International Business School (CEIBS)

Launched in 1995, the CEIBS MBA Programme is one of the earliest MBA programmes in mainland China. The 18-month CEIBS MBA programme is taught by world-class faculty with rich China knowledge and learned by top quality students with diverse background, enriched international exposure and China relevance.

China depth, Global breadth

Today CEIBS is advancing its leading position in Asia in three major ways:

Elite Faculty Team - CEIBS has experienced faculty from more than a dozen countries, each with a solid reputation in China-focused business management expertise. The school has been ranked Top 15 worldwide in terms of the international faculty according to the Financial Times for eight years (2004-2011). The faculty provides top-quality teaching by incorporating emerging international theories and practices with the business environment in China today. Case studies on China enterprises written by CEIBS faculty are widely adopted by well-known business schools in North America and Europe. The CEIBS faculty is an esteemed group of scholars that provides a rich source of international experience in professional management and practices. It is also ranked among the top ten schools in terms of the international diversity for three consecutive years according to Financial Times.

Curriculum - In order to balance theory and practice, hard skills and soft skills, as well as global perspective and local understanding, CEIBS MBA offers well-designed curricula with the essential toolkit for success in their future career. We have a strong General Management curriculum that emphasizes both soft and hard managerial skills, along with China depth and international competency. Our professors use a lot of cases, projects and in-class discussions to help students build their skills in decision making, communicating, and persuading others to accept their views.

While offering a mandatory curriculum that covers all business functions as well as communication, teamwork, cultural understanding, entrepreneurial mindset and responsible leadership in the first year, a mandatory China Module is added in focusing on issues like China’s HR challenges, China’s trade and political relations, China’s economic reform, and hot topics in China’s business environment. Certain level of Mandarin is also required to all international students. First-year students are assigned to work teams designed to maximize diversity in culture and functional knowledge, forcing them to come to grips with different values, work habits and decision styles of their classmates, which helps to develop their cultural sensitivities and competencies.

In an effort to put the acquired skills to the practice, two compulsory project courses, namely as Integrated Strategy Projects (ISP) and Responsible Leadership Projects (RLP) are provided, which require strategic thinking, a problem-solving mindset, excellent communication and teamwork skills, and an ability to get the job done. The RLP projects focus on challenges of environmental and societal sustainability, particularly within the China context. The ISP and RLP projects have attracted great attention and strong support from the business community, given their relevance to the major challenges faced by firms operating globally today.

In the second year of the program students can choose a concentration in Finance or Marketing, or they may stick with General Management, according to their future career goals. Second-year students also have the opportunity to spend a semester on international exchange.

Network - CEIBS has the longest running MBA programme in mainland China and the biggest EMBA programme in the world. The school boasts of the most extensive network of MBA and EMBA alumni in Greater China, with 10,000 graduates worldwide and 1,000 added every year. With its renowned reputation and close-knit connection with the business community, CEIBS brings thousands of C-suite management and business professionals to campus by organizing recognized industry and executive forums & seminars. CEIBS also enhances connections with local corporations and MNCs through Chaired Professorship, Scholarships with Alumni/ Student Clubs and Projects.

In summary, we have been a leader in the development of China's management education market, and we actively work to maintain our strong position with systematic fine-tuning of our offerings and introduction of innovative new initiatives. All of these have led to worldwide recognition of our strengths from both public institutions such as the media who publish international business school rankings, and professional institutions such as the European accrediting association EQUIS. CEIBS is the first mainland Chinese business school to be EQUIS accredited. This and the high rankings we receive attest to the strength of our early and ongoing development efforts.
